Description of Service Opportunity:  

The Assistant Coach is directly responsible to the Head Coach, Director of Athletics, and High School Principal. The Assistant Coach will work in close collaboration with the Head Coach and will assume assignments as directed by the Head Coach. In addition, the Assistant Coach will assist in the issue, security, and upkeep of equipment; meet with the Athletic Management Team and other coaches as requested; help in ensuring that the M.I.A.A. rules and regulations are known and followed by all players and coaches within the program; participate in clinics to enhance personal knowledge of his/her particular sport; help in ensuring the safety and security of athletes during practices and games and in the locker rooms, as well as enroute to games/meets; and perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Director of Athletics.

As part of the actual coaching and supervising in a system in which all athletes are provided appropriate information and are treated respectfully, Assistant Coaches are expected to be active participants (under MIAA regulations) in the nurturing and development of the young women and young men who participate in the CRLS athletic program. Their high level of involvement means:

Establishing avenues of communication with other adults to identify potential resources for the enhancement of CRLS athletics;
Working with community members who are involved in youth sports in order to encourage the young women and young men to continue to participate in sports at the high school level;
Developing an approach to coaching which encourages outreach to the parents of the athletes and to other adults who care about the athletes (booster clubs are one part of this outreach);
Maintaining an atmosphere of balance between the academic and athletic experiences of students and closely following each student's academic progress;
Working together with student/athletes, guidance counselors, and parents in the college application and selection process;
Contacting college coaches and introducing CRLS athletes to coaches in accordance with NCAA regulations; and
Identifying college scholarship opportunities for athletes.

Payments are submitted to the payroll office two times per season - 1st payment in the middle of the season and the 2nd payment at the end of the season.
 
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is preferred. Previous successful playing and/or coaching experience required.
Current CPR/AED & First Aid Certification, Online Concussion Education Certification, Online Implicit Bias Education Certification, and fulfillment of the MIAA Coaches Education Requirements, and state requirements. In addition, completion of CORI Form, and fingerprinting background check is a must.
