Duties:
The Instructional Aide will work under the supervision of the classroom teacher to create a learning environment where each child feels valued and is progressing at an optimal rate.
In conjunction with the classroom teacher, the instructional aide will be expected to plan for and teach small and large groups; assist in developing units of study with the assistance of the teacher, keep track of student progress through assessment and record-keeping systems; and along with the classroom teacher occasionally participate in parent conferences. Other duties include conducting lunch and recess activities; accompanying children on field trips; duplicating materials; operating audio-visual equipment; assisting in the computer lab; managing the whole class while the teacher attends a meeting; and performing other tasks requested by the teacher.
Qualifications:
Associates degree, or 48 college credits. The ideal candidate will also have the behavioral management skills necessary for working with children in groups; knowledge of the Core Knowledge Curriculum; and the ability to be a member of an educational team. |
