Cambridge Rindge & Latin School Community:  

Cambridge Rindge & Latin School is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English, History, Mathematics, and Science); Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12.

The Role:

The Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, in partnership with the Health and Physical Education department, seeks a Health & Wellness Teacher for the 19-20 School Year. Wellness Teachers report directly to the Coordinator of Health, Physical Education and Wellness and to the principal of the school or small learning community administrator to which s/he is assigned, as well as to the Health Education Program Leader. It is the responsibility of all Wellness Teachers to teach Wellness education according to the Massachusetts Health Curriculum Framework which includes health and physical education.

 

Your Skill Set:

As the incoming Health and Wellness Teacher you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience and/or education in: health education, physical education, leading adventure activities and teaching human sexuality.
  • Successful teaching experience in an urban setting preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR/WSI/lifeguarding certification preferred.
  • Required Massachusetts Certification: 5-12 Physical Education and K-12 Health Education.
  • Experience leading instruction in multicultural and urban community settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body.
