Located in the Cambridgeport neighborhood, Amigos is a comprehensive Junior K – 8 school. Amigos welcomes students from diverse neighborhoods and cultural backgrounds. Through school-community collaborations, Amigos strives to provide quality out-of-school-time programs that foster linguistic and cultural connections.

 

The Opportunity:

The Kindergarten Two-Way teacher will provide students with 80% of instruction in Spanish and 20% of instruction in English in a self-contained classroom. The successful candidate will work cooperatively with grade-level, cluster and whole-school teams of teachers, including specialists in the areas of ESL, SSL, and Special Education. The successful candidate must plan and implement an academically and linguistically active curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and socially/culturally responsive to the needs of the dual language student population. They will have experience planning, implementing and adapting ongoing curriculum, which is based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks, as well as the local Cambridge Learning Expectations for kindergarten. They will work collaboratively with parents and guardians to engage them in classroom activities and school-wide events. Other related duties as assigned.
